Kosma Ranuer, baritone
Swedish baritone Kosma Ranuer was educated at Operastudio 67 and at the University College of Opera in Stockholm.

As a student he sang Ceprano in Rigoletto at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Michele in Il Tabarro, Nick Shadow in Rake´s Progress, Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera and the title-role in Rigoletto.

Kosma Ranuer made his professional debut singing Monterone in Rigoletto at Malmö Opera in 2004. He stayed there the following season, singing roles in Turandot (Mandarin), Faust (Wagner) and Life with an Idiot by Schnittke.

In the 2005/2006 season the baritone sang Masetto at Värmlandsoperan and the Innkeeper and Captain of the Navy in Manon Lescaut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. He continued the season with the title-role in Mefistofele by Boito at Södertäljeoperan in Stockholm.

In summer 2007 Kosma Ranuer sang the part of Oxenstierna in the rare opera Cristina di Svezia by Verdi-contemporary Jacopo Foroni at the Vadstena Academy. The production was broadcast on radio all over Europe, and a CD-recording is scheduled for early autumn 2010.

The 2007/2008 season Kosma Ranuer return to Södertäljeoperan, where he sang Barnaba in a new production of La Gioconda. After this he sang the part of Björn Olsson in the world-premiere of the opera The Poet and the Prophetess by Mats Larsson-Gothe at Norrlandsoperan in Northern Sweden. In summer 2008 the baritone reprised his role in Cristina di Svezia, this time at the historical Confidencen-theatre in Stockholm.

During the 2008/2009 season Kosma Ranuer made his debut at GöteborgsOperan as Schaunard in a new production of La Bohéme. This was followed by the role of Pizarro in Fidelio in concert with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in Stockholm and Örebro. The singer also earned much praise for the title-role in Nabucco, which he sang with Södertäljeoperan in late 2009.

In April 2010 Kosma Ranuer made his debut at the Frankfurt Opera as Paolo in Simone Boccanegra. A new production of Il Trittico at the Latvian National Opera in Riga was next in his calendar. In the autumn of 2010 he will sing Mefistofeles in a new production of Gounods´ Faust at Folkoperan in Stockholm, while also returning to Riga for further performances, and in spring 2011 he will make his role-debut as Jago in Verdis´ Otello at Norrlandsoperan.

Kosma Ranuer has an extensive concert-repertoire, including Verdis´ Requiem, and in summer 2007 he was a finalist in the Belvedere Vocal Competition in Vienna.
